About
This mountain lake retreat is where people come to relax, connect and get away from it all. Surrounded by nature and adventure...
Lost Horizon has been a honeymoon retreat, family celebration destination, girlfriend getaway and fishing/biking hideout for lovers of the outdoors. Hikers, bikers and cross country skiers love the 57 mile New River Trail within walking distance of Lost Horizon. If you like watching birds, deer and a forest full of other animals... have a seat on one of the porches or decks at Lost Horizon – and don’t forget your camera.
Your private spacious deck and dock are perfect for a day in the sun or cook-out on the lake, feed the ducks, or fish from the dock. You’ll have a fire pit right on the lake for roasting marshmallows. Two Canoes, two kayaks, oars & life jackets are provided for your exclusive use; bring floats or boats for more fun on the water. A well-maintained port-a-john is on the two acres of waterfront.
Don’t miss sunrise & sunsets over the water... they are magnificent! Listen to the rain pounding on the tin roof during a downpour from the covered porch, or cozy up in the cool autumn nights surrounded by the fall foliage; listen to the silence of a snowfall in the mountains. Build a fire or light the gas logs in either fireplace or enjoy the fire table on the deck overlooking the lake.
Lost Horizon sleeps up to eight people.
The top floor includes a king bedroom suite; comfortable full futon sofa; private back deck above the pond, woods & flower gardens; shelves full of books and a separate sitting area with elegant chairs and a desk overlooking the main floor.
The private queen suite is conveniently located on the main floor where you find a fully-equipped kitchen, bar seating, small dining table, living room with a gas fireplace and bathroom with old fashioned claw-foot soaker tub.
Downstairs you have a large steam room/shower with benches (and 6 different shower heads), a bar, comfortable wrap around sofa & full futon. French doors lead out to the patio with a hanging swing overlooking the lake.
A few hidden treasures at Lost Horizon: Enjoy a library of DVDs & books (including “Lost Horizon”). There are family games and a guest book to share your experiences & read about the adventures of those before you. Extra blankets, pillows, & sheets are in both bedrooms and in the rosewood chest downstairs.
Sunsets from the deck or down at the dock will take your breath away. Lean back in the deck chairs & look up; you are likely to see eagles flying high above the trees in the daytime, and stars are brilliant on clear nights at Lost Horizon.
32 miles from VT & 24 miles from Radford University. Golf, shopping, & a variety of restaurants are nearby.
