The One City Marathon is a certified Virginia Green annual weekend long event. The Marathon is thoughtfully planned in order to minimize environmental impacts and help increase environmental awareness. The Marathon event was recognized by the Governor’s Office at the Virginia Green Travel Star Awards as the Green Event of the Year for its exceptional efforts and commitment to environmental excellence in 2016 by implementing waste reduction and pollution prevention initiatives.
